Ramboll Brasil (currently EBP Brasil) conducted technical due diligence on biogas assets focused on biomethane generation.

With an international team of professionals from five countries (Denmark, Brazil, Singapore, England, and Sweden), EBP was responsible for conducting technical due diligence on the landfills listed as assets for the investment group interested in the Project. In addition to the international Ramboll-EBP team, the project involved several other stakeholders, such as financial modeling consultants, lawyers, technical experts, and the asset owners.

Detailed due diligence was conducted on three large landfills spread across different Brazilian states, two of which already had biogas purification plants for biomethane production, meeting the standards required by the National Agency for the Promotion of Natural Resources (ANP). In addition to these three main landfills, EBP also investigated 10 other landfills in Brazil to assess their capacity and potential for future biomethane generation.

EBP's work involved a detailed assessment of the physical access conditions to the landfills and their surroundings, verification of existing biogas capture and pumping systems, detailed inspection of biogas purification plants, verification of plant operation and maintenance procedures, assessment of environmental and health & safety compliance, verification of waste reception and biomethane sales contracts, and financial modeling of the projects. Furthermore, using decades of expertise in the field, EBP created biogas generation curves for each landfill, providing a long-term strategic planning perspective for the Project's stakeholders.

Concurrently with the work of EBP's Brazilian team, our colleagues at Ramboll International evaluated other project assets, including biomethane compression and decompression systems, anaerobic biodigestion plants, and natural gas transmission lines/pipelines.

With a solid and detailed technical evaluation approach, combined with attentive and dedicated project management, over approximately three months, EBP generated more than 700 pages of reports, in addition to numerous slides summarizing the technical due diligence. This material was essential for our client's decision-making regarding the investment in the evaluated assets.
